Puppy Bowl is a paws-itively awesome event broadcast every year since
2005 by Animal Planet. It coincides with Super Bowl Sunday and features
homeless puppies from all across the country who compete at Animal
Planet Stadium in lovely Silver Springs, Maryland to win America’s heart
and be crowned MVP - Most Valuable Puppy.
Puppy Bowl VIII did not disappoint and featured 59 precocious pups
romping their way into the Puppy Bowl record books and winking at the
one-of-a-kind water bowl cam. Touchdowns were scored and tails were
wagged, but even more importantly, awareness was raised about the
tremendous need for good people to adopt homeless puppies.
Everyone knows that a big part of the appeal for any bowl game is the
halftime show – and in an effort to throw a bone to all the cat lover’s
in the audience, the 2012 Puppy Bowl offered up a kitty-filled halftime
show featuring 20 feisty felines.
And what would a bowl game be without a little controversy? Although
Fumble, a perky chihuahua-terrier mix was declared the MVP of the 2012
Puppy Bowl, fans of rival Aberdeen, an Australian shepherd mix, have
been all over the internet saying that the replay shows their favorite
pooch deserved the win!
But despite the canine controversy, there were no losers at Puppy Bowl
VIII – dog lover’s got to enjoy the antics of some truly adorable pups
and every puppy participating in Puppy Bowl VIII received the most
coveted prize of all – a loving home to call their own.
